Dr. Mona Gillen Yezdani is returning home to practice urology and is bringing her rigorous training and up-to-date skills to Delaware.
She grew up in Wilmington, attending Tower Hill School from Kindergarten until 12th grade. She then went on to attain a Bachelorof Arts degree at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA with a major in Biology and a minor in the History and Sociology of Science. Dr. Yezdani attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA where she was in the Hobart Amory Hare honor society and graduated with Cum Laude honors. She then matched into the reputable urology residency at George Washington University in Washington, DC where she practiced general urology, minimally invasive urology, oncology, endourology, female urology, and pediatrics. She had mini fellowships at the Children’s’ National Hospital and with Urologic Oncologists at the National Institute of Health. After completing residency, Dr. Yezdani concluded her training in a prestigious fellowship at University of Pennsylvania. The fellowship focused on robotics and minimally invasive urology where she further specialized in robotics and female urology, working with the world-renowned Dr. David Lee, among other distinguished urologists.
Dr. Yezdani has performed significant research in Prostate cancer and robotic surgery with many abstracts and video presentations accepted at the American Urological Association (AUA) and the World Congress of Endourology (WCE). Clinical researchhas allowed her to learn from each patient and to use scientific evidence to improve surgically and medically over time.
Dr. Yezdani is looking forward to being part of the Wilmington community along with her husband, Peter Gillen, who works in finance and data analysis, and her son, Caelen. Her goal is to give patient-centered care, advocating the best treatment on an individual basis. She hopes to provide access to the best and most up-to-date urologic care in Delaware. Dr. Yezdani is especially excited to be the first female urologist in Newcastle County, Delaware.
